We are a small family run farm raising small conservancy flocks of rare, endangered, heritage and heirloom breeds/varieties of poultry, fowl, and select sheep & goats.  We feel it is very important to preserve the American heritage and history that was built on the backs of the countless breeds of domestic animals who sustained our forefathers and pioneers as they forged this great nation.  With Industrial Agriculture taking over the livestock gene pool and method of "farming", our Heritage is in great danger.  It is up to the conservationist small farmer to remain stewards of the land and ensure these true heros of history do not vanish from this earth.

In 2009, the farm stock will be slightly separated into two purposes:  The conservancy flocks and the private use stock.  The conservancy side will continue with what we started - rare breeds with little ones for sale.  The private use stock will be used for our food sources.  We will share all of our experiences as we go back to basics - maybe what we share can help others.  I was so blessed to have been taught the old ways of doing things by my mother and grandmother when I was young.  It's time to dust off the old handwritten, handed down recipes, find the canning jars, and share those skills!

With the incredible increase in gas, groceries, all things needed for living, we decided to be more self sufficient for our milk, vegetables, eggs, & grains.  We now have a small herd of milk goats for milk, butter and cheese, we are putting in five raised bed gardens to grow our own heirloom vegetables, grains, and herbs.  I already make jams, jellies & syrups from the local fruit.  We do canning, putting by, and make our own breads.  We'll have fiber for spinning from the alpcas and Soay sheep, and cotton we will be growing in the garden.  If I only knew what the city ordenance is about riding horses or using horse and buckboard, I'd be ditching the cars, too!

I am hoping to have two or three greenhouses to be able to sell organic heirloom vegetable and herb starts.

It's going to be interesting, and LOTS of fun!!

We try to put out a newsletter when we can keep up with the fast pace of the farm.  Join our newsletter for updates on happenings.  we also sometimes include coupons for even bigger savings on eggs or other products we make.

The commercial and private hatcheries are now finished with shipments for the year.  It has been a bad year for hatching and thrive of shipped babies.  Even we have been having a very hard time with hatches.  We are in the final three weeks of the baby season with incubating of shipped eggs.  This is always our last resort to obtain certain breeds since shipped eggs are relatively very expensive and do not have the best fertility, hatching rate, or thrive.  This is also the latest in the year we have hatched out or accepted shipments, with the final large hatches to be done 01 September 2008.
Fertile hatching eggs will be available upon request.  Be sure to email to check for breed availability
