We use the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy (ALBC) Conservation Priority List as a  guide when we obtain breeds of stock.  Naturally, we try to get the breeds that are listed as "Critical", but are also a good dual purpose breed.  We have also focused on breeds that have done well in the Pacific Northwest climate.

During the summer of 2009, we drastically reduced the poultry flocks due to the economy.  We have kept 19 of the 40 breeds, keeping those that are the most difficult to obtain or replace.  Most of the very rare breeds were obtained from private breeders.  The size of the flocks had also been reduced to allow us to have this number of breeds and not break the bank to pay for feed.

NOTE: All hatching eggs, poults, ducklings, chicks and goslings will be sold off the farm, only.  Due to USDA NPIP program extensive labor and costs associated with being able to ship the hatching eggs and babes to other states, we will not be able to ship during the 2009 hatching season until certified.
