Pricing

Our pricing is basically set by 3 factors.

1. Feed pricing
2. Rarity of the breed or variety
3. Age of the animal

If the price of feed rose incredibly high within a short amount of time, be prepared for a price that might be higher than you originally thought.  Feed is very pricey, especially now, and we go through ALOT of it.

Some of the breeds are so rare, I have had to wait 2 years to get them since there are so few breeders.  Most of the time, I have to find a private (non-commercial) breeder elsewhere in the US and have them shipped.  I always start with babies so they can be hand-raised.  Rarely do I purchase adult stock for my breeders unless they have been hand-raised also.

It is going to cost less in the long-run to purchase chicks or hatching eggs, than to purchase adult birds.  The advantages of purchasing adults, however, is that the hens are laying age and usually available in same-breed flocks.  If chicks are purchased, chances are, you will not be getting eggs for your table until the next season.

Sometimes, if someone really wants or needs a certain breed or variety, I will sell from our foundation breeding stock.  That is rare, and is done on a case-by-case basis.

Discounts & Deposits
I give multiple bird discounts, and same-breed flock discounts depending on the size of flock.  Flocks contain both hens and roos.  All-hen or Laying-only flocks are not available

How to Order

Availability
The best place to see what is available is to go to the Heirloom Chickens page and click on the link of the breed you are interested in.  There is a table on each page that will show the availability of the breed in adults, chicks and hatching eggs.  These tables are usually accurate and current.  Please do not call or email and ask for a breed that does not show some sort of availability.  Returning emails and phone calls is incredibly time consuming.  It's not that we don't want to correspond - we also work outside the home (12 hour shifts) and there is not a lot of time left over between the farm stock and the other jobs.  Next Summer there will be more time as I finally retire from the military!  :o)

Our flocks are NOT currently NPIP.  We are hoping to do this in 2009.

We do not ship.  All stock and eggs are on-farm pick-up only until we are NPIP Certified.

Payment
We do accept and prefer payment through PayPal.
Personal checks are accepted on a case-by-case basis.
Deposits are accepted with a minimum  purchase of $400.  50% required.
WA Sales tax is charged on all purchases unless you have a farm business and fill out a tax exempt certificate which must be filled out upon pick-up of the stock.  Sorry, there are no exceptions to this.
