We have several different breeds and varieties of
Heritage Turkey.
We will revise the list below when we see which poults have good thrive....
Three varieties are rare, but not necessarily of Antiquity:
and one breed for both breeding and Holiday fare -
We are hoping to be able to offer poults and hatching eggs
from these small flocks flocks. Quantities of available poults and hatching eggs will be extremely limited!
We are also trying to
acquire Kardosh Bronze for 2009 or 2010
Amazingly, the turkeys have been a lot more social and less skittish
than some of the chickens! We raise all of our turkeys on natural feed, and occasionally certified organic feed, are
cage-free and pasture ranged.
Heirloom breeds tend to have darker meat and better flavor than that of commercially raised
turkeys, especially if the birds have been allowed to free or pasture range.
